How To Express Advising in the College of Education A Glossary Express Advising: a non-scheduled appointment with an academic advisor. Express advising is available in the first two weeks of the semester. Duringthis time, students can drop in and be seen on afirst come, first served basis for a 10-15 minute appointment. Academic Advisor: A counselor who works with college students. They are responsible for helping students choose a major and ensuring that they meet all the requirements to graduate. Advising Appointment: A scheduled time to meet with an academic advisor. Appointments are required at least once per semester. How does Express Advising work? In this post, I will be touching on express advising for the College of Education here at Illinois. Express advising is a great opportunity for you to create a positive first bond with your advisor! Believe me when I say that the student-advisor relationship is one of the most important relationships to maintain throughout your college career. Gif from Giphy.com Express advising should be used for introductions and quick questions. If additional assistance is required, an appointment should be booked. To secure an express advising appointment, all you have to do is arrive at the Student Academic Affairs Office in the College of Education during express advising hours. You will fill out a Google form with your UIN, name, email, and major, and wait for your name to be called. Once you are called, you will have a short period of time to meet individually with your assigned advisor. Its as easy as that!
